❄️ Snow… and Thanksgiving thoughts

Hi there, Reader!

I know Sundays can be equal parts reset and catch-up — coffee, laundry, maybe a little dinner planning if we’re ambitious. And this morning, we woke up to s n o w ❄ Maybe you love it, maybe you'd rather be on a beach 🙋🏻‍♀️ but here we are.

So I am on the couch, cozy with my coffee and Hallmark Christmas in the background, thinking about this year's Thanksgiving menu. Next week I'll get more serious but here is what I'm mulling over:

Super juicy turkey breasts (hello brining) because we are smaller in numbers this year

Always mashed potatoes and maybe some spicy roasted sweet potatoes.

I can't forget...

my mom's stuffing (her method is foolproof) but instead add Italian sausage like my mother-in-law did (I do need to share this recipe)

Homemade cranberry sauce (I use Ina Garten's recipe)

...you can dry brine a whole bird

"Happy friday after Thanksgiving, love the dry brine recipe, i used 1.25 recipe for 22lb. turkey. Cooked fast, but held fine, made perfect gravy. Honest i was nervous, seems like a lot of salt. But once again, you are a genius. Thank you Lori :)"

THIS WEEK IN THE KITCHEN

My J+N team is coming over for a photo shoot/cook day and we are making some recipes perfect for company and the holidays. Chicken Alfredo stuffed shells, pasta alla gricia, short rib ragu and an Italian meatloaf. So excited for these!

ICYMI...

I know I have the habit of saying "this tomato sauce is the easiest, quickest, best flavored"...but this one really is all of those things!

Reader, I'd love to hear any fun additions to your holiday menu this year! Hit reply and share...

Wishing you crisp Fall days and cracklin' fire nights!
